Home Depot hosts in-person kids workshops every first Saturday of the month. In November, Home Depot consistently schedules an extra workshop after Thanksgiving.

The project is a cocoa ornament. In addition to completing new construction with real tools, children will also receive a Kids Workshop apron, an achievement pin, and a certificate.

The workshops are pretty popular, so Home Depot recommends arriving early to ensure you get a kit. Each project takes about 30 minutes to complete.

Below is the 2024 schedule ...

To get a feel of what happens at a workshop, the Bower Family did an adorable video with two of their boys, Weston (6) and William (8). You'll see the family walk into a Home Depot store. They are greeted by Home Depot staff in their orange aprons and handed the kits to build a football kickoff game. "Yeah, the boys had a blast," said Jeremy about the experience. "I think it was really exciting to see them grab the hammer, grab the nails, and put it all together."

Katie agreed and said, "For the first time we weren't like 'No, don't do that! We were like, 'YES! Hammer that as hard as you can!'"

"Just watch out for my finger," Jeremy added.

Home Depot is proud to be a place, "where doers get more done." Their kids workshop hopes to build future doers, a mission that've had since 1997 (over 25 years). Today, Home Depot also offers online tutorials with these 25 project guides. They are videos of kid-friendly projects you can try at home, at your own pace. Most are under 2 hours and help familiarize your little ones with measuring, cutting, gluing, painting, woodworking, and more. With all of these offerings, there are plenty of options for your little builder.

Happy Woodworking!
