The Boston Teacher's Union (BTU) will host a Kwanzaa celebration with free food, music and more.


Below are the 7 principles of Kwanzaa and how the BTU will be demonstrating them at this event:


  1. Umoja (Unity) - Food from Black Owned Restaurant

  2. Kujichagulia (Self Determination) - Affirmations

  3. Ujima (Collective Responsibility) - BTU will be collecting personal hygiene items (toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, etc.), diapers, and gift cards in brand new condition! The items will be donated to St. Mary's Center for Women and Children.

  4. Ujamaa (Cooperative Economics) - Black Owned Vendors

  5. Nia (Purpose) - History of Kwanzaa

  6. Kuumba (Creativity) - Music/Performances

  7. Imani (Faith) - Blessing of the Food
