According to the Boston Public Library, they were the first in the nation with a children's room. Nowadays each of Boston's 26 public branches has one. These kid-friendly spaces are filled with board books, early readers, stuffed animals, games, puzzles, computers, child-sized furniture, and more. The goal is to make this dedicated space super welcoming to the library's youngest visitors.
Children's librarians are definitely an added charm as they are the staff responsible for this cozy space. These librarians often display new or seasonally relevant books, lead story times, as well as other family-friendly programming. We created this list to help you connect with your local librarian. Please know that some branches have temporary staff -- so the following contacts are the children's librarians as of August 2023.
