Summary
Chase offers a ton of financial products and has a pretty large presence in Boston. We're just not sure that is enough to choose them as a banker. If you wanted to dip your toe in, we think their CDs are worth a try. In short, Chase has one of the shortest CDs in the city (only 2 months). This means you can give your savings a quick boost, especially during a declining market when interest rates are going down. Chase also offers cash bonuses for new accounts, but there are a bunch of requirements.
History
According to the FDIC, Chase was founded in 1824. Its original name was the Chemical Bank and Trust Company. The founding bank changed its name multiple times and acquired multiple financial institutions along the way. The latest being JPMorgan in 2015 and First Republic in 2023.
Today Chase is considered the largest bank in America. A title it has held since the 1930s when it acquired the Equitable Trust Company in New York. With 200 years of banking experience, and a long list of financial products, Chase wants to help everyone manage their money.
As of 2024, Chase has 4,700+ branches and 15,000+ ATMS nationwide. According to Wikipedia, it is the only bank with a presence in all 48 conjoining states in the US (minus Alaska, Hawaii and US territories like Puerto Rico).
