What We Love...

  • International bank with 229 locations outside of the United States (according to the FDIC). This means that travelers and/or movers alike can have easy access to physical locations.

What We Don't...

  • Questionable practices, which may be due to their banking algorithms or staff. We really can't put our finger on it, but we find BOA not to be the most customer-centric institution.

Summary

Bank of America is one of the largest banks in the nation. With an institution this large, we hoped there would be more profit-sharing through interest earning and high yield accounts, but we kind of understand the expense of owning/leasing a ton of real estate.

History

Bank of America (BOA) was founded on October 17, 1904. Originally known as the Bank of America National Trust and Savings Association, leadership decided to shorten the name in 1999.

BOA has acquired 30 financial institutions since it's founding over a century ago. Notable acquisitions included Fleet National Bank in 2005 and Merrill Lynch Bank USA in 2009. BOA's main office is in Charlotte, North Carolina, but it has 3,777 locations in 39 states across the US and 229 foreign locations.
