Amazon Beyond is a virtual shopping experience with different showrooms. Announced towards the end of 2024, the 3D simulation allows Amazon customers to browse items as if they were in a physical store. For example, there are themed rooms, floor and wall displays, decorations, and even music.
Above shows an example of Amazon's 2D images compared to Amazon's 3D Virtual Toy Shop. In short, the Amazon app and website mainly function as a digital catalog with a collection of flat clickable items. Comparatively, the virtual showroom has shelves full of toys, animated characters, a train set that travels the room, and more. Visitors have the option to tour the room using the pulsing hotspots, click around the aerial map for faster navigation, or view all items in a convenient side panel. While shoppers can add items to their cart without leaving the showroom experience, if they want to read customer reviews, watch product videos, or see a 360° of a product, they can click on a button that says, "view full details." This opens a new window leading shoppers to the corresponding Amazon page.
The most popular showrooms (so far) are ..
Gaming Leveled Up
Breville
the Lego store
Star Wars
Back to Hogwarts
the Outset
Amazon Beyond can be accessed on desktop and mobile, however we think the experience will have a greater wow-effect in the future with virtual reality (VR) headsets. This means that shoppers will be able to have a fully-immersive shopping experience from anywhere.
Until then, the virtual showrooms can be helpful when imagining a space. For example, the Ultimate Trolls Room features Trolls bedding, Trolls posters, and a kid-friendly vanity covered with Trolls nail polish.
