Tickets are first come, first serve and are available at the Ferry Center beginning at 8:00am. No advance reservations, so arrive early as this event sells out fast! Plan to be in line at least 15 minutes before ferry departs. Ferry Times (Saturday, May 18) 10:00am 11:00am 12:00pm 1:00pm Ferry Times (Sunday, May 19) 10:00am 12:00pm Downtown parking can be as low as $10 to over $50. Try Spot Hero to find a garage with the best rate. Ride sharing can be a great option if you prefer to be chauffeured. And the MBTA can be the least expensive depending on where you are traveling from. Use Google Maps or the above price estimators to determine the best option for you.     Native American and Alaska Native Heritage Month 2022 Free (with subscription) Ages 2-8 Photo: ABCmouse Nov 1 - 30 Any time ABCmouse Yearly ABCmouse celebrates Native American and Alaska Native Heritage Month with a video and three ebooks. Two of the ebooks are ABCmouse originals, which means they are only available on ABCmouse's platform. One follows a young girl to a Navajo Powwow. Attendees wear traditional Navajo clothing, can shop for Navajo jewelry, eat fry bread and listen to drums. Photo: "Fun at a Navajo Powwow" by ABCmouse The other story is about a girl named Ava who collects Native American dolls. She has a doll from the Seminole Nation, Seneca Nation, Navajo people, Ojibwe and an Inupiat hunter from Alaska. Images in the story include a dream catcher, a cradleboard, traditional Native clothes, a doll made out of corn, and a doll carrying a baby on her back. Photo: ABCmouse Home Page One of the ebooks on ABCmouse is also available (for free) at the Boston Public Library. We Are Grateful: Otsaliheliga is written by a member of the Cherokee tribe who describes modern day life as a Native. The author reflects on Cherokee traditions throughout the seasons. You'll learn about basket weaving with buckbrush and honeysuckle, baby naming, corn-husk doll making, and cane flute playing. As well as traditional lullabies, sewing moccassins, building beautiful coil clay pots, and more. If you want to delve deeper into Native American culture, here's a list of our favorite books celebrating Native people. They are also available at the library. What is ABCmouse? ABCmouse is an online learning academy for kids ages 2 to 8. If you don't have a subscription to the platform, don't worry. You can try it free for 30-days.
