Boston Public Library (Quietest Branches) Word Search

We defined the quietest branches by the total reach the locations had. Branch reach is measured by total visitors, programming, computer sessions, wireless sessions, and circulation combined. The South End (the quietest fully active branch) had a little under 10,000.

We chose the fourth quarter of 2022 because it is the most recent data (as of the writing of this post). While the data can be analyzed many ways, we noticed that the branches with the least visitors also had the least overall activity. Here they are in alphabetical order ...

  • Adams Street

  • Chinatown

  • Connolly

  • Egleston

  • Faneuil

  • Fields Corner

  • Honan-Allston

  • Hyde Park

  • Lower Mills

  • Mattapan

  • Parker Hill

  • South End

  • Uphams Corner

If you're into data analysis, you can totally check out the library's usage numbers here.
