6 Ways I Feed The Girls When I Can't Go Grocery Shopping

Our girls are 2 and 5 and I still dread bringing them grocery shopping. I need to get over it, but it’s hard to accept a simple task can turn into a traumatizing event for all of us. For me, grocery shopping requires juggling nap times, feeding schedules, bathroom runs, and carrying heavy bags with screaming babies. Here is how I feed our kids when grocery shopping is too much.

1. Visit Family

Yup, I do this often, go to family members’ homes for dinner.

2. Depend on Family

I'm not big on asking for help, so it's always nice when my mom or husband bring home groceries.

3. Breakfast for Dinner

My kids love my oatmeal and thankfully we rarely run out of the ingredients. When the girls have breakfast for dinner, they go to bed satisfied and on a full-belly.

4. Snack All Night

This probably isn’t the healthiest, but we will eat snacks (for example, hummus and veggies or cheese and crackers) all night instead of a hot dinner.

5. Order out

Fast food is definitely unhealthy and gets expensive, but that along with ordering pizza happens a lot. With picky eaters, ordering out frequently looks like the best option, because I know it’s something they will enjoy.

6. Incomplete Meals & Left Overs

Sometimes dinner is just a bowl of rice if I don’t have any of the other food groups.

7. Grocery Delivery

I’ve been recommended multiple times. Grocery delivery services probably would make my life so much easier, but I don't love the idea and honestly have never tried.
