What is Invest America?

It's a national program designed to give American children under 18 an investment account.

Is it worth it to start an account for a teen?

It can be! As of December 2025, children 10 and under get seed investments, which means older children, pre-teen, and teenager accounts start with $0.

Are there any tax advantages for the account?

Employer contributions do not count towards the employee's taxable income. This means that employer's can contribute to accounts without it impacting the family's taxable income.

What are criticisms of the account?

Account details are still being finalized. At this point, it looks like the accounts are managed by an unknown third-party, but parents are the custodians, and the minor is the owner.
