5 Statements That Remind Me Our Homeschoolers Are On The Right Track

"True scholarship requires time and calm effort. Nothing worthwhile is done in haste. " Arturo Schomburg

Mr. Schomburg reminds me that learning takes time. And so my focus has always been to encourage the girls self-discovery, self-motivation and ultimately self-education.

Here are five statements that remind me we are on the right track.

“I Did It!”

It can take our three year old 10 minutes to zip up her own sweater and she pushes me away if I attempt to help her.

It feels good when she accomplishes a goal she sets for herself. The way she says, “I did it,” shows me she is proud of her own determination.

“I Have An Idea!”

They often come up with creative solutions to our daily problems. Some make me chuckle, but I ultimately love watching their mind think outside of the box.

“I’m So Proud Of Myself!”

I’ll admit the girls hear me say this a lot, whether it’s after I complete a contract or finish a project. I love when I hear them say it too.

“I Can’t Believe I Made It!”

After months of research and tinkering with different recipes our 7 year old finally figured out the perfect concoction for glow-in-the-dark slime.

“ I Feel Like They Are Putting A Lot Of Trash In Space.” -7 year old

After reading or watching a movie, statements like this reveal our children’s analytical skills. When things are not blatantly obvious, our girls are still able to make their own decisions and come to their own conclusions.

Have you noticed your child’s self motivation and self-discovery? What does it look like? Do they say or do certain things?

Until next time.

Love Thyself,

Dominique
