I found myself sifting through the posts to answer questions addressing my real passion -- the emotional needs of lactating wombmen.
Here's my suggestion to a mom concerned about her weight while nursing...
on the other hand, this mom was super hungry...
this wife couldn't get quality time with her husband without her breastfeeding toddler interrupting...
and this little one loved nipple twiddling...
this mom didn't know how to eat more...
this mom struggled with clogged ducts...
this little one loved to bite...
this mom's let down wasn't responding to her pump...
another one fascinated with their new teeth...
It’s super encouraging to know mothers can get online peer support within moments of their pleas. And since breastfeeding families have multi-layered needs (marital, nutritional, etc.), real-life wisdom can be life-changing.
So... if you are a lactation pro with a heart to help, I encourage you to log onto Reddit. I’m sure there are pages of wombmen who would appreciate your support.
My only advice is to be cautious of secondary trauma. It occurs when you (the helper) are traumatized by the other person’s suffering. If you want to talk to someone about it, I’m always here. While there are many online communities to support breastfeeding wombmen, I'd love to know which one you prefer? What is the biggest issue that comes up? And what breastfeeding problems are you better at handling?
