Boston requests an evaluation from homeschoolers at the end of each academic year.
These are four types to choose from:
☐ an independent evaluation
☐ daily logs/journals
✓ portfolio with dated work samples
☐ progress reports
Our family chose dated work samples.
While I do not feel this completely represents our 7 year old’s growth, we simply submit what the department asks for.
I took a picture of her work (which was one page from her math workbook and one page from phonics) with my phone and emailed it to the address on our approval letter (homeschooling@bostonpublicschools.org).
I did not receive a response. And I did not follow-up. However since I emailed, I have an electronic copy and proof I submitted the necessary documents before the deadline.
