Despite nursing both of our girls past three years old, they both developed (or were born with) allergies.
Overall our girls are very healthy -- and in this post, I hope to shed light on their sensitivities and how we naturally treat them.
1. Drug Allergy
Our youngest is allergic to penicillin, a popular antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections.
We found out after she was prescribed the drug for an ear infection when she was less than a year old.
A rash broke out over her entire body and her ear infection symptoms were not responding to the treatment.
I ended up using drops of coconut oil (and sometimes breastmilk) in her ear combined with temple massages while she nursed — to heal the infection.
2. Sensitive Skin
Our oldest daughter has very sensitive skin.
We’ve noticed certain topical products (like hair conditioners, certain pullup brands and chlorine) break her out.
Inflamed, itchy and bumpy rashes develop on her face, behind her knees, in between her thighs and inner elbows if her skin isn’t properly moisturized and protected.
Since it looks different on different parts of her body — it honestly took us years to discover the cause of her skin issues.
For example, on her face, she develops light/unpigmented spots, while on her legs she has circular rashes that look like ringworm.
Doctors wrote them off as dry skin and eczema.

♡ Avoid irritants
♡ Stay loyal to brands that work for her skin
♡ Use a lotion she loves to keep her skin hydrated ( I pour grape seed or oil olive directly into the lotion for an added layer of protection).
Skin sensitivities and allergies to penicillin run in our family -- so I'm not surprised they were passed down to our girls.
