Join the city in celebrating it's newest mural by international street artist Victor "Marka27" Quiñonez.
Marka27 describes the piece as a "mural dedicated to the preservation of diversity and representation in the south end." It depicts several symbolic images including...
a mother wearing a child on her back
Haitian colors on the mother's wrap
a Puerto Rico flag
a Chinese Imperial Dragon for protection and cultural pride
neo-Indigenous patterns and African textiles
red, black, and green for hip hop and shout out to Boston's street artist, ProBlak
cherry blossoms and a radiant child representing a brighter future and deep love and respect for all of God’s creations
The project was completed on August 27th, cost $87,500 and is located on an 8-floor, 77 apartment building called Washington Manor.
The celebration is free and open to all ages! You can learn more about the New York artist and see a collection of his work here.
After the event, you can visit Carter Playground and read this children's book about city living, street art and graffiti.
