Boston Children's Museum

Visit the Boardwalk in front of the Boston Children's Museum for a hands-on introduction to fishing.

Fishing 101 takes place every Wednesday and Thursday from July to August. Save the Harbor / Save the Bay is the organization behind the lessons. Every Summer, their young staff teaches children how to responsibly fish. Kids learn how to bait, how to use a rod, and how to cast a line. Families may meet crabs, fish, and other aquatic creatures from Fort Point Channel. After fishing all life is returned to the water.

Staff takes a short 90-minute break between 12:30pm and 2:00pm. This means that the fishing sessions are:

  • 10:00am - 12:30pm, and

  • 2:00pm - 3:45pm

While Fishing 101 is free, admission to the museum is required for entry. Library passes are a great one-time option for half-priced tickets. If your family frequents the museum, an annual membership is totally worth it.

Parking garages in the area start around $10 per hour, but can go to $17 or more for the same time. 4-hour meters used to be available along Congress Street. Now they may only be 2-hour meters at $3.75 per hour. Ride-sharing or public transportation are also options.
