According to the FDIC, Eastern Bank was founded in 1989, but Eastern Bank says they started in 1818. Despite acquiring multiple banks and institutions over the years, Eastern bank has kept its original name since its founding. It moved its main office to Franklin St, Boston in 2003. As of 2024, Eastern Bank has over 120 locations in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire -- 10 are in Boston.
